| There are three technology vendors
that provide gasification technology: GE/Texaco,
Conoco/Phillips and Shell Global Solutions. Tondu conducted extensive
analysis of these competing gasification technologies and concluded that
Shell Global Solutions offers the most competitive and best performing option.
The Shell Coal Gasification Process (SCGP) because of its higher efficiency its higher efficiency, lower environmental
emissions, lower operating costs, and lower water requirements.
The GE/Texaco and Conoco/Phillips processes
both use a wet feed system and a refractory-lined gasification chamber
which increases operation and maintenance costs when compared
to the SCGP dry feed and membrane-lined gasification chamber.
The Company carefully and thoroughly studied gasification, attended
conferences in New Mexico, Indiana, Washington DC, and Texas and met
with each of the three vendors. Consultants, engineers,
operators, scientists, researchers, and various individuals with gasification
knowledge and experience were interviewed. Construction and engineering
contractors with building a gasification project were engaged to provide
an assessment of EPC costs.
In April, 2005 Tondu entered into an exclusive agreement with Shell Global Solutions Inc. to utilize the Shell Coal Gasification Process technology after conducting extensive research into all competing gasification technologies, including site visits to commercially operating gasification projects in the Netherlands, Spain, Japan, Florida, Indiana, and Tennessee.
